> As participants we welcome undergraduate or postgraduate level students from universities studying architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture, building construction and engineering, design and arts, scenography or in any other field. We also welcome students from vocational schools in Latvia. Participants must be at least 18 years old.
> SECOND APPLICATION ROUND IS OPEN UNTIL THE END OF JUNE. Following the latest government decisions on cancelling several restrictions and allowing gathering for COVID-19 vaccinated people, we announce the second application round for our international summer course this year. The number of participants is limited.
Please fill in the
application, send your CV, brief motivation letter, and photo of your latest creative project. Participants should have advanced English skills. Persons having the
Covid-19 vaccine will have an advantage as we aim to ensure safe and healthy being together.

> Full participation fee in 2021 is EUR 711*. The fee covers accommodation in the student housing, catering (2 meals per day), workshops and discussion sessions, guest lectures an tutoring, guided excursions and site visits, building tools and materials, social programme and culture activities planned during the summer school. Participants will also get an opportunity to join performances held within the theatre festival program.
> In 2021 there are 10 Latvian State scholarships administered by State Education Development Agency available for foreign participants from following countries: Azerbaijan, Belgium (Federation Wallonia – Brussels), Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Tajikistan, The People`s Republic of China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Japan, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, The United States of America.
> The first application round for foreign participants seeking scholarships is open from February 1 to April 1, 2021.
To apply, fill in the APPLICATION FORM and upload the following: CV and brief motivation letter, one photo of your latest creative project, your ID or passport copy, proof of English knowledge (if available), certification from your home University proving that you are enrolled as a student. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis in a careful evaluation after receiving all applications.
> In case you missed the first application round, we welcome your application at any time but no later than 1 month before the course. We will contact you about the availability of place. Applications received after the deadline will not be eligible for receiving the scholarship.
> The participants of the summer school have to cover insurance, visa and travel expenses from their origin to the summer school location in Valmiera by themselves. If necessary, organizers will offer the pickup option in Riga and transfer to Valmiera. Arrival in Valmiera – July 27.
> Participants of the summer school will receive 3 ECTS and a certificate will be awarded upon completion of the summer school program. Additional documentation to validate the course at the home university will be issued on request.
> Organisers will follow the latest updates on the situation and requirements in Latvia and abroad due to COVID-19 and will take decisions on holding the upcoming summer school accordingly. Stay safe!
* Latvian residents and Valmiera locals will be eligible for the reduced participation fee – EUR 300.
